I love my feet! Not a pretty sight perhaps, but they have been on a 50 year journey of abuse, followed by a twenty year journey of love and care! As you can see, I have the start of bunions, and my toes are a little squashed together after 40 years of tight-fitting shoes and high heels. But I can feel the whole of my feet on the ground now. My little toes used to sit under my fourth toes, which the little toe nails then cut into, but they now each have their own space on the ground to allow them to spread. I walk around the house in bare feet (or wearing spacious warm socks in winter), and mostly walk out in ‘barefoot shoes’, and my feet say thank you, thank you, thank you!
Activity for October: Study your feet… be curious!
- Are the toes well spaced?
- Do you have any bunions or unusual bone structure?
- Do you stand on the outside or inside of your feet?
- Do all your toes and both heels have contact with the floor?
- Do your feet face forward or are they angled to the side?
- Take your feet for a walk… note what happens in your feet as you walk.
- Start a little journal over the next few months and record your observations. I will extend this activity and take your feet on a journey of exploration.
