Working from home

Do you sit in front of a computer all day, ploughing through your work, and eating your lunchtime sandwich whilst trying to meet deadlines? Finishing work at the end of the day do you get a TV supper before climbing the stairs to bed with a leaden body, only to wake up the next day and repeat the pattern?

Working from home can be satisfying and productive and have numerous other benefits, but it is important to develop a disciplined routine in order to remain both physically and mentally well. If you work in an office, at least you have to get yourself there and back, and may even get out for a walk lunchtime. Your body is not designed to sit for a long time, it is built for movement.

When we over-focus on a task, we tend to be cut off from our bodies and the environment around us, causing a slump. This, in turn, compresses the body and so our engine room (our internal organs) can’t function effectively. We lose the tone in our muscles, and this exacerbates the problem.
